Bloom Energy and Brookfield Form $5 Billion Partnership to Power AI Data Centers
Bloom Energy (BE) has entered a landmark $5 billion partnership with Brookfield (BAM) to address the surging energy demands of AI infrastructure. The collaboration focuses on deploying Bloom's fuel cell technology to power next-generation data centers—dubbed "AI factories"—which require unprecedented levels of reliable, low-carbon electricity.
"AI factories demand massive power, rapid deployment, and real-time load responsiveness that legacy grids cannot support," said Bloom CEO KR Sridhar. Brookfield projects $1 trillion in AI infrastructure spending this decade, escalating to $7 trillion over the next 10 years, as the technology becomes what it calls "the most impactful in history."
The deal underscores a critical bottleneck in AI's expansion: energy. Traditional power grids lack the scalability and resilience required for 24/7 AI operations, creating opportunities for decentralized solutions like Bloom's solid oxide fuel cells. The technology offers a dual advantage—reducing carbon emissions while providing grid-independent reliability for mission-critical computing.
